The South Line Fire District recognizes the importance of providing emergency medical treatment to it’s residents and those who may be traveling through our coverage area. With this being said, our department is the ONLY department within the Town of Cheektowaga that is certified by the New York State Department of Health as an Advanced Life Support First Response Agency.
South Line Fire District #10 exclusively provides around the clock Advanced Life Support (Intermediate Level) to the community. The Fire District has thirty seven (37) Basic E.M.T’s, two(2) Advanced E.M.T. Intermediate, two (2) Advanced E.M.T. Critical Care Level, and three (3) Advanced E.M.T. Paramedics.
Each light rescue vehicle is equipped with 12 lead cardiac monitors, Advanced Life Support equipment, and Basic Life Support equipment. South Line Fire District #10 also operates a rapid response vehicle; the EMS Coordinator operates this vehicle. This vehicle is equipped with Automated External Defibrillator, Advanced Life Support equipment, as well as Basic Life Support equipment. Every year the South Line Fire District #10 certifies all three vehicles to New York State Department of Health requirements.
South Line Fire District #10 operates under the regional protocols established by the Western Region Emergency Medical Advisory Committee (WREMAC). Personnel are trained in NYS Department of Health certified EMS training programs. Providers maintain their Certification according to the criteria established by the NYS. Additionally, providers demonstrate their advanced level skills twice each year in accordance with the guidelines established by WREMAC.
South Line Fire District #10 EMS providers participate in a Quality Assurance program administered by the EMS Coordinator. Additionally, the Fire District provides regular training for members on topics relevant to EMS care and rescue operations.
